Location:Dist. of Columbia, United States
Bio:Age: 37

Physical: Dark brown hair, green eyes, very thin, average height, about to need reading glasses. Very much looks like an aging but reasonably attractive nerd – not that he recognizes the attractive bit.

Former Deity and Pantheon: Ogma, Celtic.

Personality: On the surface, Peter seems like your standard geek. His apartment is minimalist bachelor, yet covered in books. He does the New York Times crossword in pen. He has few friends and fewer enemies – that he knows of – and is a dutiful son and brother, yet an outsider to his family.

Underneath that is a passion for what he does that would surprise nearly everybody. Peter loves puzzles, loves words, loves playing games. He mainly works for the U.S. because they have the best toys, not out of any abiding sense of loyalty. He is, however, good enough to hide most of that on his psych evals. He views himself as chosen, though to do what he doesn't yet know. The part of him that's Ogma misses his family desperately; he's spent the last fifteen years devouring whatever scraps of information come his way about why they're here and what's going on. Despite knowing who he is since his early 20s, Peter and Ogma are not fully merged. Whether that's the choice of the human or the god, or both, is unclear.

History: Peter is a second-generation American; his grandparents fled the USSR while his grandmother was pregnant with his father just before the end of WWII. He grew up in a bilingual household, which encouraged his natural talent for languages to flourish. He has several siblings, all of them younger and more inclined to blue-collar views and lifestyles. His parents are similarly inclined, but are proud of their eldest's achievements. From time to time in his childhood, this was a source of sibling rivalry – Peter lost physical contests, but could taunt his sibs into apoplexy when sufficiently provoked.

Disgusted by the dying end of the hippie movement and the beginning of the '80s, Peter sought admittance to Oxford for university. He graduated three years later with honors in linguistics and conceptual maths and speaking most of the eastern European family of languages, shortly after the Berlin Wall fell. Joining up with some roommates, Peter toured through parts of Europe, making a brief side trip to what is now Latvia to see "the old country." He was bitterly disappointed, though he couldn't have said what he'd been expecting.

Upon his return Stateside, his family greeted him effusively, though with some confusion. The years away gave him an Oxford accent and distinctly British mannerisms, things that he gradually – reluctantly, perhaps? – lost. The CIA approached Peter almost immediately, offering him a place with their intelligence analysts and the budding discipline of cryptography if he was willing to learn some computer science on the fly. After a week to think it over, he accepted.

Since then, Peter's been a perfect Company man – the real sort, not the flash-and-bang movie sort. Circumspect, quiet, few friends and none of the embarrassing peccadilloes that the CIA would clean up after, nor the ones they wouldn't. He gets drunk just often enough to keep back the loneliness without being accused of alcoholism – and it gives the appearance of having something for a character flaw, though it just doesn't seem like he has any serious ones.

Appearances, of course, can be deceiving.

Strengths: Peter is fully aware of who and what he is, though how well he copes with it varies from day to day. He doesn't know why he's here, though he suspects he's not alone. Any of his personal writings are in a code that takes modern English, Middle English, and some Ogham symbols, and crams them into a maze of confusion. Peter is very, very good with words, patterns, linguistics, and riddles, and enjoys what he does to no end. He may eventually be able to make people shut up and listen to him, which will probably freak him out the first few times.

Weaknesses: He's crazy. Quietly crazy, in the way where you think he might snap some late afternoon and start shooting people. Only he won't. He's more likely to tear someone's world apart bit by bit, or drive them mad. Peter is desperately lonely and in need of affection, and likely to make you prove you give a damn over and over before he'll believe you. He has few loyalties, and no one that he feels he can turn to when dreams of past lives threaten to overwhelm him. He's terrified that the CIA will eventually figure him out and drop him (or worse, believe he is who he says he is and turn him into a lab rat), and works longer and longer hours to try and keep his place of prominence among the ranks.

General Deity History: Ogma was the god of eloquence and learning. In one version of how Ogham came into being, he is credited with inventing it. He is one of Danu's children, and is never mentioned as marrying or having children – perhaps because all his time was taken in studying? In the last battle against the Fomorians, Ogma took the sword of the Fomorian king, though he died doing so. Ogma is either the Dagda's son or brother, depending on your mythology, and brother to Brigid, Midir, and the rest of that generation of Tuatha de Danaan. He is often represented with chains tying tongues to ears, books, and Ogham.
